Leaving Lakewood and Selling our house

As I said in a previous post, I will be leaving Lakewood and moving to Houston Texas.

While I am excited for the opportunity, its bittersweet to leave such a wonderful street and neighbors.

LEAVING LAKEWOOD

After 15 years, my wife and I will be leaving Lakewood for a new opportunity in Houston Texas. Will be selling our house and if interested in buying drop me a line in the comments and we can schedule a time to look at it. 4 Bedroom 2 1/2 Bath 99 year old home on a Private Street with a Homeowners Association. Hardwood floors throughout; Kitchen was just updated with new floor and granite countertops. Great patios both front and back for entertaining or just enjoying a sunny day.

Once Again We Remember

Today marks the 13th Year since the attacks on the World Trade center, Pentagon and Flight 93. While American and Coalition forces have left Iraq and Afghanistan to just and advisory capacity, we are reminded in recent events that those who want to deny our way of life are still out there. The current administration has tried to handle the Terrorists in a different fashion than the Bush Administration with very little success, in turn this has emboldened the enemies of true freedom to ramp up to Pre-911 activities. We must as a free people stand firm against the threat of terrorism, today, tomorrow and the day after. Other 9-11 Posts here, here is another. I have a few more so check out the archives.

Ralph Wilson

It's a sad day in Buffalo, with the death of Ralph C Wilson, the owner of the Buffalo Bills.

When I was kid, my dad would take my brothers and I up to Niagara University to watch them practice and my dad would point out the owner, Mr. Wilson.
Years later, I would see him and his daughter Linda at the Buffalo Country Club having breakfast on a Sunday morning before a game, he would say good morning to the people at tables near him. He was a decent man.

Now the fans of the Buffalo Bills will have to wait to see if the team will remain in the City. All they have to do is look 185 miles to the west and see city that has lost a team and be helpless to do anything about it.

Jim Kelley struggling with a reoccurance of the oral cancer and now the loss of RCW, the fans of the Buffalo Bills are reeling from the emotional blows this week.

SEPTEMBER 11th.

As the bells of the Churches in Lakewood finishing tolling it is a call to stop and remember. When the first news of a plane hitting the WTC

Most people thought it was an accident, then a few minutes later

All of that was caught live on TV, at that time I was working for a law firm in the Key Tower -- I was on the 43rd Floor. Shortly after the second plane hitting the tower the word in the office that we meaning the building was to be evacuated as a precaution. There had been several reports about a plane heading to Cleveland or there was hijacked plane at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, thus the reason for the evac. I am a little fuzzy on the attack on the Pentagon, I can't recall if I heard about it while still in the building or after we had moved down the fire escape towards the street.

After some 30-40 minutes it took to go down the 43 flights of the fire escape, and reached Ontario street, some of my colleagues then started getting phone calls from family members and word had spread that one of the towers had collapsed

I started to make my way over to the Hanna Building where my wife worked at the time which normally would be 15 minute walk but because of traffic it seemed to take twice as long. I do recall thinking to myself if this is what it was like when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. A question I would ask my mother later that evening. By the time I had gotten to my wife's office the North Tower had fallen and I stood on the street corner at 14th and Euclid and watched the video on Jumbotron on the Wyndham Hotel. Once I got to my wife's office is the first I heard of the Flight 93

As we sat and waited for the traffic to clear downtown, my wife and I continued to watch the envents unfolding and all you think about was all those people who had lost their lives. At the time, the estimates were up into the tens of thousands, even though the number would be smaller, it was still one too many.
